PRESS

Musicians Union UK quarterly publication (Musician)-"The Cardiff Quartet deftly infuses modern dance
beats with dub and funk. Sally thomas's astonishing vocals contracts kriks Intriguing pallete of funk tones to give the song the feel of 1970's political soul."

New Sound Wales - "A fine, solid dance infused album with much to recommend itself to Welsh dance music aficionados.  The ridiculously catchy ‘Celebrity Burn Out' and the title track ' Nools and High Horses' both of which could be hit singles with the right amount of airplay "

Buzz Magazine - ZM - "Rock, R&B, Electro, Funk and spaced out vibes this is a great sound." ****

Buzz Magazine - MD - It's fresh, fun and upbeat enough to make you want to hum, sway and 'get down on the digital' ***

Peppermint Iguana Zine - "It's always nice when you come across something that is hard to pigeonhole and this little number is definitely a defiant little bugger. Part rock, part dance, part pop, part soul, part funk, but all top quality" ****

Miniature Music Press - Simon Read - "Set for release early 2011, it seems a great deal of time's been spent pulling in a range of collaborators and capturing a sense of diversity alongside the tried and tested template of strong beats and melodies. Magic Notion, featuring Sabrina Mahi, has a slap-bass funk chic about it. It's Demeaning is a quasi-political knees-up masterpiece with echoes of Soul II Soul reverberating off frantic electronica. Sally Thomas' vocal effort on The Way It Is lends it a lush laidback Massive Attack ambience while Something On My Brain's house tempo plays alongside a Beta Band quirkiness"

BIO - A STANKY FUNK ELECTROBOP is upon us.

Extremely musically eclectic, they effortlessly blend together many different styles, with dance music and funk forming the bedrock. Snappy beats and funky guitar riffs are backed up by retro synth sounds, whilst the guest vocalists do an excellent job trying to steal the show with some stunning performances. All of this makes for a collection of tunes which will be eagerly received on the radio and club dance floor.

Stank Machine, has the same kind of sleazy dance vibe of Har Mar Superstar. Nools and high horses with female vocals lends this a certain Scissor Sisters chic, but its retro styling is more Gloria Gaynor thanks to a pleasingly sparse arrangement and sexy bass. Aqueous Waltz winds up sounding like a William Orbit-remix of Captain Beefheart‘s Electricity. It’s Demeaning creates an Aretha Franklin like number with eccentric grubby and a superbly brilliant falsetto squeaked chorus. It’s a track laced with contemporary satire and wit, that much like Pulp‘s Common People. Many Tracks offer a lush laidback massive attack vocal with elements of Chromeo, Moloko, Prince and P Funk also creeping into the mix. Ladies and gentlemen may I introduce you to Omega66.

Omega66 are Krik(Guitar, Stank Machine and Vocals), Sally Thomas (Lead Vocals), Adrian Wiggins (Percussion and things) and Dan Pressley (Drums). They took their new tracks to the stage, highlights of which are: A headline slot at the Big Music from Small Nations festival July 2010, headline slot at The Brecon Jazz Fringe Festival 2011 and headline slot at the Watusi Festival 2011.

Old and new Omega66 tracks have been played on Radio 1, Radio 6, kiss FM, Galaxy 101, Radio Wales and more. They have become known for their energetic, funk crossover, live performances and have now unleashed their Second Album "Nools and High Horses".

This album has received great reviews and regular radio play on 6Music with Tom Robinson and others. The album has been causing a stir with it’s eclectic approach, killer tracks and slamming production.
